the beginning of winter

So, on Monday, when it was beautiful and warm enough to wander around without a coat on, C. (a co-worker) warned me that winter was about to start.

On Thursday (today). I thought he was kidding.

He wasn't kidding.

When I walked out to my car, it was snowing. When I walked into my office, it was snowing. Walking around campus during the day, the air was cold enough to make my lungs hurt. When I walked back to my car after work, it was exactly 32 degrees Fahrenheit, without taking into account the wind.

Winter has arrived, kids.

It's days like these when I wonder why I haven't moved to warmer climes.
